The Irish Government has signalled its willingness to consider putting in place a detailed regulatory framework for land based casinos and internet gaming/gambling. As pointed out by the Justice Minister existing laws are ‘past their sell-by date’, recognising the practical difficulty of applying laws that date as far back as 1931. A report produced by the Casino Regulatory Committee entitled “Regulating Gaming in Ireland” has been published highlighting key recommendations such as:
- The establishment of a new regulatory authority
- Regulating casinos and racinos
- Limiting fixed odds betting terminals to casinos or gaming arcades
- Regulating remote gaming
- Introducing a comprehensive gaming duty and tax regime
- Stamping out unlicensed gaming activities
- Fostering problem gambling research and self exclusion policies
Now that a shake-up of Ireland’s gambling/gaming laws is imminent, GamblingCompliance are delighted to host with A&L Goodbody a two-day conference looking at the recommendations of the report and how a new regulatory regime in Ireland might look. This is a timely event that will provide delegates with the necessary tools to consider or continue operations under new legislation.
Who should attend?
This two-day conference is applicable to all those with a vested interest in the Irish gaming review and market as a whole.
Participation in this conference can contribute to your continuing professional development (SRA CPD Accredited: 9hrs 40mins)
